Privacy Policy

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password (which we never store in plain text — only a securely hashed version). We use your email to verify your account via a one-time code and to contact you about your account (password resets, security notices, and lockout warnings).

Listings and messages. When you create a listing, we store its title, description, condition, specs, price, city/area, and the photos you upload (hosted via Cloudinary, our image storage provider). When you message another user through the Platform, we store the contents of that conversation so both participants can see the message history.

Transaction and dispute records. When a sale is marked complete, we store who was involved, when, and its confirmation status. If a dispute is filed, we store the evidence photos submitted and the resolution, so we (and you) have a record of how it was handled.

Reports, blocks, and reviews. If you report a listing or user, block another user, or leave a review, we store that action and its content.

Security and account-activity data. To protect accounts from abuse, we log failed login attempts, password-reset attempts, and related lockout state. This exists solely to detect and slow down brute-force attacks — it is not used for any other purpose.

Technical data. Like most websites, our servers and hosting/security providers automatically log basic technical information (IP address, browser type, timestamps) as part of normal operation. We don't currently use this for analytics or advertising — see Section 6 if that changes.

We don't collect a phone number, date of birth, or government ID at any point in the current signup flow.

We process your data to:

• Create and secure your account, and verify it's really you (email verification codes, login lockouts);
• Let you post listings and communicate with other users;
• Operate the mark-as-sold, dispute, and review features;
• Respond to reports and enforce our Terms of Service;
• Send you transactional emails (verification codes, password resets, security notices) — these aren't optional, since they're how the account system works;
• Comply with legal obligations, and protect the safety and security of our users.

We do not currently use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

We share data only where necessary to run the Platform:

• Other users, in the ways you'd expect: your listings are public, your name is visible to anyone you message or transact with, and reviews you write are visible to the person you're reviewing (and to anyone browsing their profile).
• Service providers who process data on our behalf under their own confidentiality/security commitments: Cloudinary (image hosting), Resend (transactional email delivery), and Neon (our database host). We don't control these providers' own privacy practices beyond what we configure, so we recommend reviewing their policies if you want more detail.
• Law enforcement or legal authorities, only where we're legally required to disclose information (for example, in response to a valid court order), or where necessary to investigate suspected fraud, stolen goods, or other illegal activity reported to us.
• A future buyer of Computarak's business, if that ever happens — your data would only transfer under the same protections described in this Policy, and we'd notify users of any material change.

We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain something longer — for example, records tied to an unresolved dispute, or where retention is required by law. Messages and transaction records tied to another user's account may be retained on their side of the conversation even after you delete your own account, since deleting your account doesn't delete their copy of a shared conversation.

Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal data we hold about you, and why;
• Request a copy of it;
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data;
• Ask us to delete your data, except where we're required to keep it (see Section 4);
• Withdraw consent for anything we process based on consent, without affecting anything already processed.

The Platform currently uses only the technical cookies/session tokens needed to keep you logged in — nothing for advertising or third-party tracking. If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future (for example, to measure how people find the Platform), we'll update this Policy first and, where required, ask for your consent.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data: passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), connections to the Platform are encrypted, and account-security features like login lockouts exist specifically to slow down attackers. No system is perfectly secure, though, so we can't guarantee absolute protection — if you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@computarak.com.

Computarak isn't intended for anyone under 18, in line with our Terms of Service. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll investigate and remove it if confirmed.

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, notify users in-app.
